Splošna zgodovina filma, pa tudi zgodovina filma na Slovenskem, sta v preteklosti doživeli že precej raziskovalne pozornosti in tehtnih znanstvenih ali strokovnih objav, veličina pričujoče izjemno butične edicije (izšla je v zgolj 50 primerkih) pa je v tem, da se ne ustavi zgolj na površini – pri kronologiji prodora »živečih fotografij« v naše kraje, pri opisih posameznih načinov projiciranja prvih filmov ali vrstnem redu pojavljanja prvih kinematografov, temveč tematiko usmeri v avtorju ljubo historiografsko sfero, kjer omenjene elemente nadgradi z iskrivimi izleti v žurnalistiko, arhivske vire ter pričevanja neposrednih sopotnikov te marsikdaj po krivici spregledane revolucije, ki je za vedno spremenila konzumacijo novic, razvedrila in izobraževanja najširših slojev.
