In 2016, an exhibition was mounted at the Korčula– Lastovo Archival Collection Centre (Žrnovo, Croatia), presenting social developments in Žrnovo on the island of Korčula up to the mid-twentieth century. One part of the exhibition highlighted the engagement of a Slovenian music educator in the 1930s. Subsequent analysis of sources and literature revealed that this person was Danijel Danilo Grum, son of the organist and composer Anton Grum. The article traces the identification of this previously unknown music educator, provides basic biographical information, and describes his work on Pelješac and Korčula on the eve of the Second World War. The concluding section considers the significance and legacy of Grum’s contribution.
